Goddard Chippendale Tall Post Bed Highly admired among American cabinetmakers are the members of the Goddard family of Newport, Rhode Island. Copied from their design, this bed style has footposts that have stop-fluting on the long tapering post columns which surmount a twist-fluted vase section. The headposts are plain tapered pencil post. This was standard in period since the beds were ³dressed" and the head post would not be visible. A four piece tester is included with the bed. The bed can be ordered with all four post turned and fluted, for an additional charge. Base price shown is for a twin or full size bed.
