c. Commode-en-Arbalete
The
uncommon crossbow shaping of the drawer fronts on this
French-Canadian chest of drawers is echoed in the shape of the top
and in the curves of the skirt, which lead the eye both out to the
cabriole feet and into the deeply carved shell that stands at the
central point of the facade. It is constructed in pine and has a
warm milk paint finish which is credibly aged and distressed.
